Michael Vacchio, MD
Dr. Michael Vacchio completed his undergraduate studies at The State University of New York at Binghamton where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and graduated with Binghamton Scholars honors. He received his medical degree at The University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
Dr. Vacchio completed his general surgery internship at North Shore University Hospital and LIJ Medical Center in Manhasset, New York. He performed an additional year of research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center studying the molecular genetics of kidney and bladder cancer. He then completed his urology residency at the University at Buffalo where he served as chief resident and was recognized for his research efforts.
Dr. Vacchio is fellowship trained in endourology, laparoscopic and Da Vinci robotic surgery. He completed his fellowship training at Eastern Virginia Medical School. In addition to general urology, Dr. Vacchio’s clinical interests include robotic surgery for benign and malignant disease of the kidneys, bladder, and prostate and minimally invasive treatments for kidney stones and enlarged prostates.
Dr Vacchio remains active in urological research and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented his research at both regional and national meetings.
Dr. Vacchio is a member of the American Urological Association, Pennsylvania Medical Society, Berks County Medical Society, and is board eligible for the American Board of Urology. He was born and raised in Inwood, New York and joined the Center for Urologic Care of Berks County in the summer of 2020.
In Dr. Vacchio’s free time he enjoys hiking, skiing, going to the beach and spending time with his wife, daughter and 2 golden retrievers.
